My students are special needs students who have multiple disabilities. They walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. They are a group of children who work hard at being an inspiration to themselves and to others.
They enjoy incorporating what they have learned from real life experiences and they are very enthusiastic about learning!
There are many outside factors that they cannot control that can affect their day. They each have their own learning needs, which makes it very important for me to provide my students with differentiated instruction and a safe environment, as well as an education that is based around whole brain learning.
We are a part of an elementary school in Columbus, Ohio which is of the highest poverty. Our students do not have the resources at home to succeed in this world, so it is my job to help them learn these skills at school!
My Project
My students need a big plush carpet for us to put on the floor to make a cozy reading corner! We would like to add two bean bag chairs as options for flexible seating during silent reading and circle time.
When students are comfortable they are more successful in class.
I would like to provide a comfortable learning environment in the classroom. We will be able to put our books in book bins to organize our space and shelves for our reading corner. These materials will help us create a comfortable and cozy reading space for the students to enjoy!
