Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school are the most inquisitive, hard working, and creative kids! Not only are we the only STEM Academy in our district, we are the only STEM Academy in our county! My students have taken on any challenge given to them. Each of them created an interactive Native American project after learning about the tribes of California using a coding platform called Scratch! They have also used QR codes for teaching their parents about Native American clothing and culture. Minecraft EDU and LEGO Robotics are at the forefront of our integration as well. These platforms are encouraging 21st century learners and problem solvers in a way I never could have imagined.
My students are enthusiastic about learning and excited to come to school each and every day!
Despite their hardships at home, they are open to new learning adventures. Their smiles and growth mindset make me believe that our future will be bright!
My Project
Flexible seating will help my students reach new heights! Our small group time will be more comfortable on flex chairs and will help to inspire creativity and critical thinking. With wobble cushions, students will work through their problems and aspire to learn more than ever! Since we are a STEM Academy, my students are asked to create coding projects that integrate curriculum. They will do this in comfort with wobble cushions!
Flexible seating is just one small change that can create a world of difference for my students.
A flexible mindset goes hand in hand with flexible seating! Who knows? A small change like this one, may inspire the next great inventor, teacher, or engineer! Thanks for your help!
