Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is filled with the brightest of faces. Their kindness and will to learn light up my classroom every day. Our class is a melting pot of possibilities that remind me that no student is unable to fufill their greatest potential and dreams.
Our classroom is a positive and safe place for all students.
We support each other through learning, personal struggles, and the moments in life that just make you happy. We build relationships by connecting on a daily basis with each other through genuine connection.
My students often face personal struggles, but show time and time again that they will not let their difficult backgrounds hold them back from giving it their all in the classroom. Although they come to my classroom in Utah, many of them bring their own cultures which allows me to the student. For all that my students have given to me, I want to give back to them.
My Project
2nd graders often times need the option to get out of their seat or find something to help them refocus while learning. Flexible seating gives students an empowering choice to where they sit and how their will learn. Some of the options I hope to provide for my students are yoga balls and bouncy desk bands. Yoga balls allow for students to continue learning while getting a little of their energy out. These will be a tool in the classroom for students who will have greater success if they have the opportunity to get out of their seat or learn while have movement beneath them. The bouncy desk bands give students the in-desk experience to release their energy with just their feet.
Flexible seating allows for students to decide how and where they want to learn.
These creative yoga balls will be a place that my students can learn, read, and refocus their learning. The bouncy bands will give students the extra tool they need to be able to focus on the task in front of them without getting distracted with their minds or hands.
