This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 50 1st grade students participate in a Spanish immersion program. I teach 25 at one given time. I am fascinated by how quickly they begin to acquire a second language at this early of an age! When you teach like no one understands you (literally), your teaching style evolves into a more interactive model where you need the students to actively participate in class, whether it’s by drawing, acting things out, and eventually speaking with each other in a different language.

My Project

I strongly believe that students learn best when allowed to manipulate their learning environment whether it is by seat selection or learning materials that they can manipulate. Having a choice to move to a different seat and being able to use materials that move with your students keeps students engaged, helps meet a variety of learning styles, helps with class management, and creates an inviting classroom environment. I want my students to have the best learning environment that I can possibly provide. Have these tools will help kick off a great beginning start to be able to accomplish my goal.
