My 1st graders are eager and ready to learn! They are active and energetic! They come to school full of energy, sweet smiles and positive attitudes. We are a Title I school so many of our students have low economic status and many are on free/reduced lunch. This hurdle doesn’t stop them though! They know they can do anything they put their hearts and minds into! They know I believe in them and most importantly they believe in themselves! I have found that allowing students the options to sit in comfortable chairs, or in locations around the room, they are better focused and can find a spot that works for them. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies including group work, flexible seating, and a variety of work assignments and assessments to best fit the students.
My Project
My students are energetic 6-7 year olds who need the freedom to wiggle and move while they are working and learning.
Flexible seating wobble chairs will give them the opportunity to choose seating that works best for their learning needs.
Flexible seating allows students with ADD/ADHD and more disabilities to move freely while focusing on their work. These wobble chairs will greatly benefit my students; I am relying on your help to make this dream a reality in our room.It will give them a sense of independence and control over their learning environment. Flexible seating will give my students choice and the opportunity to move while they learn. Research shows that flexible seating is a way to improve student engagement, increase participation, and motivate students.
