Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a 6th grade English Language Arts teacher. I teach three ELA blocks. One block is co-taught class and another block is a gifted and talented block. I work in a very diverse school and teach students with various reading and writing levels. Many students come from a Hispanic Background. Also, many students come from a high-need community. Many of the children in our school have limited resources. Our school is showing growth towards mastering the requirements in reading and writing on Connecticut Common Core State Standards.
My Project
These materials will help my students focus during various learning activities in the co-taught classroom. These items will allow my co-teacher and myself the ability to group students into learning stations and small groups. Students will have various areas to read their books and interact with other classmates during a 90 minute block.
There are many benefits of flexible seating.
Students can learn better when they work in small groups and interact with students who have different points of views. This will give students choice and control of their classroom learning environment. Some students learn next while standing. This furniture will give students the ability to have a choice to stand and move around.
