Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In our low-income/high poverty county, I teach 6th grade at the only Middle School we have. Each day I see a little more than a hundred students that are all searching to find out who they really are as they have entered this new phase of their lives.
Every child should have the opportunity to feel safe and loved in their classroom, so they can meet their full potential.
Students are being pressured by society to grow up so quickly, but they still need the opportunities to make mistakes and grow from them. It is my desire that all students who pass through my classroom feel safe, loved, and encouraged....everything else will fall into place in the end.

Areas within my classroom that I have noticed students struggling include staying focused, as well as making eye contact with the person they are working with.
Students need choices and the ability to move!
Having a seating up that is just a little different than your basic school tables/desks gives students the ability to choose what works best for them. If students want to work on floor, grab a pillow and for it. If students want to work with a partner, sit at the table. Need to wiggle? grab a cushion. The options with flex seating can be endless when teachers have the resources available for students inside the classroom.
