This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a TAB art educator for grades K-4. TAB is a type of choice-based art where students are regarded as artists and students are offered real choices for responding to their own ideas and interests through the making of art. Flexible seating is a large part of this this teaching style.
I work in a Title I building that serves over 550 students.
I teach grades K-4. My students have a wide range of learning/ developmental needs. My art classes include general education, special education, life skills, developmental kindergarten, and excel students.
My Project
This requested rug will be used as a meeting space at the beginning of class and the end of class. At the start of each class I provide students with a demonstration or introduction to a new topic. At the end of class after clean up we have share time where students can talk in a microphone about art they created at the learning studios. In addition to these meeting times, students will be able to work at the carpet area because it will double as our architecture studio. The rest of the floor in our classroom is tile, so the rug will be the most comfortable seating choice for this learning studio.
