My Students

Our elementary school sits in an inner city district and is a Title 1 school. One hundred percent of our school receives free breakfast and lunch.

My energetic fourth grade students come from a variety of cultural and social backgrounds, eager to learn each day.

Anytime I can engage them with an opportunity for collaborative activities, they rise to the occasion. They are curious and enjoy testing their theories or sharing their thoughts and ideas with one another through application and experience.

My Project

My students need to MOVE! This year we're transitioning to a flexible seating classroom. Whenever possible, students opt away from the standard desks and chairs for alternative seating around the room, such as cushions, beanbags, yoga balls, or simply sitting or lying on the floor. The option to move freely around the room allows for students to find a comfortable place to focus and work.

In order to personalize learning, seating options need to be personalized as well.

Adding the option of a floor table with comfortable floor seats will give my students more opportunities and options to take ownership over their learning, whether they are working cooperatively or independently. This floor table would be a valuable space for working on team projects, engaging in small guided groups, and more!
