Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How can underprivileged students do well inside the classroom? Students can do well inside the classroom by having the simple necessary tools to complete their daily work activities.
The majority of our students come from low-income families, and their resources are extremely limited.
Therefore, we must provide these special tools to enhance their learning on a daily basis. More than 80% of our students will come to school without fulfilling their whole school supply list. It is important as teachers to make sure that our students have the tools necessary to reach their dreams. Financial needs should not get in their way of academic excellence.
My Project
Learning inside the classroom has changed dramatically since I was a kid. Students today are more overwhelmed with all the rigorous content they must learn, keep up with their extra-curricular activities, and maintain their chores at home. I try to make my classroom a fun place for students to come to! I want students to enjoy math class and be excited to learn! As the quote I am requesting says, They must believe in themselves! I hope that they all have a high level of confidence when they leave elementary school and enter their chosen high school.
Flexibility in a classroom can change a student's learning dramatically.
They are not sitting at a desk all day, nor are they listening to lectures for countless hours. My students complete a variety of group activities each week, and they move around the classroom in order to complete the assignment! I can't wait to put these colorful circles up on the walls so students can compete on math problems. The skinny EXPO markers will be great to use on these circles as well as the EXPO cleaner to wipe them down each day. In addition, the stools will be of great assistance for our new kidney table when the students participate in small group learning!
