Ms. Lewis from Harvey IL is requesting reading nooks, desks & storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need adjustable sit-to-stand desks, seat cushions and comfortable floor mats. These items will accommodate their various learning styles in a flexible seating classroom.

My students are energetic, creative and curious! They also are extremely helpful. They love being selected for classroom duties and performing random acts of kindness for other teachers as well as their peers. They are truly my inspiration!
Although my students have diverse backgrounds, they all come to school eager to learn and ready to try new things which will allow them to grow personally as well as academically.
My students have different learning styles. However, most are visually kinesthetic. They enjoy being challenged with hands-on engaging projects. Lastly, they adore projects and/or assignments that provide an opportunity to showcase their creative talents. I am so lucky to have such great students!
After receiving their classroom assignment, several students will ask if they can stand while completing their work. I would grant permission to any student that asked because I understood that some people will get tired of sitting. Shortly after standing, I would notice students holding their back while bending down to write on their papers. That’s when I had the idea to incorporate sit-to-stand desk in the classroom for my students.
Providing height adjustable desk for students will not only be comforting to students that prefer to stand while working but also release energy which will lead to a student being more successful in class.
Seat cushions are another material that is needed for my classroom. Think about it...students are in school for approximately 8 hours and a majority of that time is spent sitting in hard chairs! I can't even sit in a hard chair for that long so why should I expect my students to. I also included two floor cushions in the materials list. Most of my students prefer to complete their work and/or read books while laying on the floor. I want my classroom to be a comfortable place that students really enjoy. With these additions and your help we can create a comfortable learning environment for my students.
