My students are a diverse group of energetic 5 and 6-year-old boys and girls who are just getting started in kindergarten! They are opening their eyes to the world and are little sponges, eager to learn all they can! Many of these students have never experienced school before and are coming in as blank slates without much background knowledge. Our school is located just outside a big city and is a literacy based city school. We immerse our students in literature in every way possible!
My kindergarten students love to learn, but sitting at a table all day is tough for the typical five-year-old. They should be able to curl up in a comfy seat to read their favorite books. They should be able to stretch their legs or stand to create their own first stories or pieces of art. They should be able to learn in a spot that that suits their individual learning needs. These materials will allow them to kneel at a table, or sit on a cushion with a lapboard to write in their journal during writer's workshop.
They can get cozy in a beanbag chair to read their books or practice making words with magnetic letters.
All children are unique and learn in different ways. These tools will allow them to explore in a position that suits their learning style. And therefore, my students will be more productive than ever! These donations will make my classroom a more comfortable environment to work in.
Students will build their confidence when they choose a place to learn in the classroom that works best for them. Therefore, they will be the best learner they can be!
