Help me give my students flexible seating for comfortable and focused learning during our reading and writing workshop!

My students are young, innocent, enthusiastic, and vibrant. They come to school with expectations for excitement and engagement. My students demonstrate strength, perseverance, and commitment at six and seven that I have not seen in many. About half of the student population at the school is low-income in a suburban environment, and 50% of the school population are English Language Learners. In my classroom alone, there are eight languages represented!
My first-grade students deserve to have doors opened for them, experiences presented to them, and tools to success provided for them.
These students deserve to have the best education with no "ifs, ands, or buts" due to the environment that they live in. My classroom is full of minds that can be agents for change in our world. We are continuing to build a classroom environment that allows us to grow, learn, and thrive!
We all know how intense and different the 2020 - 2021 school year has been. When students return from remote learning and our new "normal" classroom routines resume, I want to be able to offer students flexible seating. Having many different places for students to choose from will help them feel comfortable and at ease to be back in the classroom.
Flexible seating studies have shown that having options helps students remain focused and engaged.
During reading and writing workshop, students experience a mini lesson and opportunities to engage in purposeful practice. I want all of my learners to be able to find their best learning location. Additionally with all the chaos of the world around them, I want students to be able to choose a place to be successful in our classroom. By having an array of seating and standing options students can find the best place for them and engage fully in their learning.
