My students belong to a Microsoft Showcase, STEM, and Movement school. They enjoy being engaged with hands-on activities and working together to create and learn.
My students are motivated by choice and movement.
They like to choose where they sit and what they are sitting on, whether that be on the carpet or at their tables. Being a part of this school has given us some opportunities to have seating options however, funds and furniture are limited. I want to be able to provide adequate access to alternative seating for my students. Thus, enabling them to be empowered and comfortable learners soaking up information. I am lucky to have such a wonderful class!
My Project
My students need flexible seating to help them become better learners. I know that students are motivated by choice and by giving them the choice of seating such as: balance boards, stability balls, and laptop/writing tables students will be more motivated to learn.
Learning in a classroom is a challenge for young children.
Regular desk and chairs do not meet all of their academic and physical needs. Different seating/standing options helps them be more comfortable in their learning environment. By being more comfortable it helps students achieve greater success in all academic areas. Moving students' focus away from comfort to content.
