Help me give my students these flexible seating options to maximize focus in the classroom! Each of these items provides a different alternative to the rows of desks in the traditional classroom ... all encouraging on-task behavior!
Do you remember your fourth grade classroom? Was it a collection of desks arranged in rows? Did you have an assigned seat? Were you ever given a choice?
In my classroom, I encourage student choice and movement through the use of flexible seating!
As a fourth grade teacher, I work with more than fifty students every day! Each of my students comes to me with different needs, both academically and socially. In order to maximize instruction time, I believe students must feel a sense of ownership in the classroom by providing opportunities for choice in seating. These seating options must offer an opportunity for movement and comfort.
In my classroom, you will not find desks! You will find very few chairs! You will find a variety of seating in order to encourage student choice and maximize attention and focus!
By donating to this project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Research suggests that students need movement to increase focus. Flexible seating not only provides for movement, but offers a level of comfort not found in traditional seating. In my classroom, students are more focused, more involved, and more excited about the learning that takes place each and every day!
