My students need flexible seating like floor seats and beanbag seats as well as storage sacks to become avid readers and thinkers in Kindergarten. Providing some options for flexible choices of where my students sit will stimulate their thinking, thus becoming more engaged learners!
My students are the MOST awesome five year olds! They are excited to learn and willing to work for their gains! That's exactly why I love teaching kindergarten! They are eager and hungry to fill their brains with delight and wonder. My school has almost eight hundred students in a large urban district, so getting all the resources needed to each and every school in a system of over one hundred thousand is a challenge. The requested flexible seating and seat storage sacks will increase the opportunities for these little learners to have choice, comfort, movement, and easy access to materials.
Kindergartners come to school hungry to learn.
Giving them options for seating and some seat sacks to store their notebooks and supplies will help them on their quest in becoming independent thinkers and learners!
The flexible seating options will allow my Kindergarteners the opportunity to move and learn. Sitting on the floor is fine, however, think of your favorite place to read and fully immerse yourself in that- is it sitting on the floor? In a hardback chair,? Or in you most comfortable spot in your home?

Five year olds NEED to be able to move to think! Having flexible seating options as well as a defined storage spot for learning materials will help my Kindergarteners become more independent thinkers and learners through the opportunity to have choice of seating and freedom of movement!
Having some options for students (storage sacks, beanbag seats, floor seats) will help them not only have some freedom of choice about where they'd choose a great reading and working spot in the classroom, while allowing them choice, independence, and the opportunity to deeply engage in thinking while they work.
