Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students learn in different ways. Some like to sit in chairs at their desks, some like to sit on the floor, and some wiggle as they work.
My students are each unique and have their own learning styles.
In order to help them achieve their maximum learning potential, I am incorporating flexible seating in my classroom. The materials I am requesting will help to create a classroom set up for students to make choices and decide how they will work best as they collaborate, work in pairs and individually. My students come from varied backgrounds and socioeconomic levels. They live in houses and apartments. They represent all types of families. As many differences as they have, they share the same passion and enthusiasm for learning. Their energy, curiosity, and drive keep the learning momentum high paced in my classroom.
My Project
The items that I have selected will help my students excel by giving them varied seating options to make more effective learning choices. The lap desks will allow students to sit in a nontraditional way and still have a solid writing surface. The stadium seats and dry erase boards will let students sit in a comfy seat and work. The light filters will block out the harsh glare of the fluorescent lighting to help create a calm environment.
I can't wait to see the positive impact flexible seating will have on my students as they become more in charge of their own learning through choices.
