Help me give my students reading pillows, wobble stools, reading chairs, and organization bins so they can learn in an environment that works best for them.
We have 32 energetic first grade students who are excited to soak up everything they can about reading, math, science, and social studies! Our school is in a low-income, high at-risk, rural community.
Our students need options for flexible seating and bins to keep us organized as we learn between two classrooms.
They love to work in small groups or partners and move often to optimize learning. They also have different needs for their learning to be successful. My students work hard each day to conquer their learning goals and have fun doing it!
My Project
First grade is an important year for developing math and reading skills. It is also important for students to be active. Flexible seating allows students to figure out how they learn best and focus on their learning.
We have two first grade classrooms that the students move between so the book bins will help us stay organized while students are able to use wobble stools, reading pillows, and reading chairs in both classrooms.
The flexible seating allows students to move to where they can focus the best and gives them opportunities to work in small groups. Small groups allow us to focus on student's individual needs, which allows each student to grow and learn.
