My students walk into the classroom eager and excited for what the day will hold. My classroom is an environment where my students feel safe and welcomed each and everyday. I provide many opportunities to create rich and hands on learning for my students. Allowing my students to have hands on and interactive learning, they have proven to go beyond what I could have imagined for their learning.
My students are and will be the future, it is up to me to provide them with the best opportunities.
I work in a Title 1 school and all students receive free breakfast and lunch daily, and many students qualify for the food backpack program. Due to the hardships many of these students face, they come to school and give their best. These students truly amaze me daily for their hard work they put forth in every lesson.
My Project
Students walk into my classroom daily needing a safe and comforting environment. While our school is learning more and more about being a trauma informed practices, I have learned that a large number of my students are overcoming many obstacles outside of the classroom that make it hard for them to focus. My students need an environment that is comfortable, safe and feels inviting to learn.
Offering students a choice of seating that is comfortable will allow for further engagement than traditional seating.
Allowing my students choices of wobble cushions or bouncing balls allows for movement while working and encourage engagement in work. Offering choices teaches student to make choices that are best for them and their learning.
