Flexible But Firm

My students need to learn in an environment that is highly collaborative and flexible using portable laptop desks and swivel metal stools that adjust. The whiteboard divider will make up for the lack of wall space.

My Students

My students are thinkers and doers. They come alive when the math is relevant and challenging. We have a diverse student population here in the Central Valley. My math students have limited life experience but unlimited desire to see beyond the mountains. Over 60 percent of our students are from a lower socio-economic home life however 100 percent of my students want better for themselves. Our neighborhoods are slow to embrace growth and new ideas. My students need to visualize the possibilities.

My Project

It is highly effective to have students engaged in academic talk and computational thinking. The dividing whiteboard allows for an engaging activity to occur among 2-4 students at a time, and the adjustable stools will allow kids of all different sizes to sit and contribute with the divider.

My AP computer science kids would love the freedom to sit on the floor yet have a mini desk for their laptop, so they may be comfortable yet organized.

All of these items create a creative engaging math classroom, giving my students options that motivate them to choose to work and support each other.
