The students at our school are from a variety of backgrounds - white, black, Hispanic, Asian - and have a variety of financial backgrounds, from impoverished and homeless to wealthy. Some have ADD or ADHD. Other students have issues with depression and low self-esteem. Still, others are underachievers and need special motivation in order to help them perform at their top level. These students work hard despite their disadvantages and I want to be sure they have everything they need in order to be a success in school.
My Project
One thing I have discovered about teaching gifted students for many years is that they like to move! Their brains are going a mile a minute and their bodies want to do anything but sit still. Our students go from class to class with very little time to move about. After they do this for seven classes they are not ready to focus and have difficulty sitting still. The adjustable tables allow my students the ability to sit down in class or raise the table to stand up and move a little without being a disruption to everyone around them.
These tables will make a great difference in my students' learning.
They will be able to focus on the lessons and be able to have the luxury of movement without not getting into trouble. Giving my students options to choose for seating will empower them to focus on their education because their movement needs will be met.
