Our school is surrounded by a beautiful neighborhood in the valley of the Rocky Mountains.
I am teaching at a school that has two sections of 2nd grade with a major focus of dual language learning.
At this particular school 65% of the students are Hispanic.
We are a preschool-5th grade school with enrollment of 325 students. I am very excited for my students to grow as individuals and be 'Global Ready' when they begin their life after high school.
Our students would benefit greatly from flexible seating during large group instruction, as well as individual and small group work time!
As a first year teacher, I am very excited to introduce flexible seating in my classroom. My students have a lot of energy and I think having flexible seating options will give them the opportunity to bounce or wiggle around during instruction time. My ultimate goal is to have flexible seating options for all students in my classroom. For a class that switches for each subject, I find it important to think about all of the students and how they will benefit. Looking at the grade as a whole, I truly believe having these options will greatly increase their engagement throughout the day. For example, the stability balls can be used during large groups instruction time on the floor, as well as during individual reading time or work time. The cushions can be used during desk work time, as well and small group time. I find it very important that my students have seating options because so many of them learn in different ways.
