As a teacher in a urban school district, my students are very diverse. They come from a wide array of backgrounds and home lives. I want to provide a safe and welcoming environment for every single one of my students. When students feel comfortable in their classroom, they are able to learn and thrive.
My students are curious, creative, active and oh so caring.
My kiddos love to move. We do a lot of activities that get us up and moving around the room. Our favorite brain break right now is the song Jump!
My Project
My first graders need to have the ability to choose how and where they work in the classroom. The best way for them to do that is with access to flexible seating. It is important for students to have many options for seating such as wobble cushions, wobble stools, and floor cushions as well as bouncy bands for at their desks.
If my students can use wobble chairs and wobble cushions, they will have fewer interruptions and be able to focus more on achieving their academic goals.
With exercise ball chairs, the students can put their excess energy to good use instead of causing disruptions in the classroom. Students will be able to work at various places in the classroom in order for them to be successful.
