Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our elementary school students are energized to learn and ready to take advantage of their education. They have enthusiastic teachers, a great classroom atmosphere and plenty of school spirit.
Unfortunately, our students are deprived of daily critical resources that we take for granted.
These items set students up for success to learn and our families struggle with providing them due to the fact that 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and the majority of our students live below the state income level for poverty.
My Project
My students need yoga and donut balls for flexible seating in our classroom. Many students struggle with focus and short attention spans. Frequent movement is critical for learning. Movement is is healthy and is directly connected to growth and learning in the classroom. My students are so excited about the possibility of choosing their own space and they can't wait to give it a try. I have already tried using a yoga ball with a few students and they are are already showing progress. Our classroom would be the first to have flexible seating and my principal is supporting this whole project. Thank you.
