Flexibility for Fidgeting Fifth Graders!

My Project

My students are innovative, imaginative, and inquisitive! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things in order to grow both personally and academically.

We are at a low SES school, where the entire population receives free breakfast and lunch.

A good portion of our population is also military. Along with the challenges these students are facing being low SES or military, we also have a large majority with 504 plans or IEPs with diagnosed learning disabilities or challenges.

I have quite a few students in my classroom that struggle to focus during class due to attention or anxiety difficulties. Providing my students with this 3-in-1 flexible seating chair will provide students with an opportunity to keep their bodies busy and their minds focused. This chair allows students to rock side to side or forward and backward during instruction as well as independent practice. The chair also comes with sensory bumps on the side for students to keep their hands moving. Research shows that students with attention and/or anxiety issues are able to focus better if their body can be actively moving. This desk provides students with the opportunity to redirect their focus in a quiet way, as to not disrupt other students.
