Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a Title 1 school with special education students, my students face challenges each and every day. In my classroom I promote being yourself and working hard to achieve academic success. My students are not limited due to their disabilities.
My students are special education students with varying disabilities and some have speech and vision concerns as well.
Some of my students have attention issues when they are in class and keeping them engaged during lessons can be a struggle.
While my school is in a new neighborhood, it is a Title 1 school and many of my students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
My sixth grade students have been with me since fourth grade and my fourth grade students are new to me this year.
My Project
I have a student with vision issues and who struggles with attention. The slant board will allow my student to have his paper closer so he can see his work better.
These materials would help students to write and be more productive.
They would be able to write more in a given time instead of loosing time going from board to desk. The slant boards would elevate the eyes and help with the vision issues. The chair would allow for a more focused student during class time.
These materials would improve my student's learning by allowing for less stress on the eyes.
