I am a second year teacher and I have such a passion for teaching. I love coming to work everyday and getting to work with my students. This year my class has a kind spirit about them. They are all willing to work hard and collaborate with each other to reach an end goal. I have at least 2 students at my groups of 4 that are willing to help their partners of different learning styles! I have loved the watching them grow and become more independent each day!
My Project
I am a second year teacher trying to continue my learning and growing as an innovating teacher. I am always researching and looking for new ways to help my students learn! I learned that creating a comfortable learning environment students may feel less anxious and become more successful within their education. I also learned that with flexible seating it promotes higher academic engagement and provides students with personalization of their own learning. I am starting flexible seating in my classroom in the new year and would like to start growing my seating options for my students. My goal is to have a classroom with stadium type seating. I will have lower tables in the front of the classroom where students can use the seat cushions as well as crate seats and other options closer to the floor for their learning style. The wobble stool and rolling stools will be at the next level of stadium seating where my desks will be at regular height. These will help with my students who tend to need to move around slightly to help stay focused. Lastly, I plan on having two high tables toward the back of the class where students can either use them as standing desks or use the higher stools and seats to help with their learning needs. Having various options that will be available for my students will allow to grow in their own reflection of how they learn best and what tools they need to reach success within the classroom. These materials will be the first of my seating collection to help incorporate flexible seating within my classroom!
