My students need flexible seating options such as stools, exercise balls, wobble seats, bean bag chairs, and lap desks to help them move throughout their day while staying engaged in a cooperative learning environment.
I am a first-year teacher in rural Ohio. I teach Kindergarten students in the morning and First Grade reading in the afternoon. My students are just beginning their academic careers when they enter my room, and I want them to be comfortable and ready to learn! One way to reach this goal is through flexible seating. These young learners are full of excitement and energy and should not have to sit still in a chair at a desk for the majority of the day. Because I am a first-year teacher, I have a blank canvas in my room that I can't wait to fill!
Flexible seating promotes student collaboration.
It has been proven to increase student engagement and helps students release energy by bouncing or moving without being disruptive. By using objects such as exercise balls, wobble seats, and bean bag chairs students can take ownership of their learning and find a spot that they learn best.
By offering flexible seating in my classroom the students in my class will be given the opportunity to take ownership in their learning and become actively engaged learners. Thank you for your consideration and support.

Flexible seating is a game changer in elementary schools!
I believe that when students enter a classroom that is inviting and relaxed they will be more inclined to take educational risks and learn!
The flexible seating items I am requesting will offer my students multiple seating choices to choose from throughout their day. From stability balls with legs to floor cushions, students will have daily opportunities to try and find their perfect learning spot.
Floor cushions will be the perfect spot for Reading to Self during the Daily 5 or working together to brainstorm their next great group project. Lap desks will provide a great spot for my young students to practice their writing skills or play a game. There are endless possibilities with the item I am requesting!
These items will be used every day in my classroom and provide my students with an inviting and comfortable classroom they will love!
