My students need different options for workspaces in the classroom. This will allow more physical movement in my lessons and help increase students' focus on their independent work.
I teach in a classroom with 24 bouncy and excitable 2nd graders. My students and I love to use GoNoodle to take wiggle breaks throughout the day because sitting in a desk and chair all day can get tiring.
I challenge my students to be active throughout the day and involved in their learning.
My students are responsible learners and thrive when they are learning in an atmosphere where they get to make choices and take charge of their learning.
My Project
These materials will help make a difference in my students' learning because giving students their own private space to work, in which they are comfortable, focused, and given autonomy over where they can sit in the classroom, helps bring out the best in them.
I've noticed that when I teach my students and send them off to work independently at their desk vs in a space that they choose, my students are more excited and engaged when they have a choice.
Having a variety of options for chairs vs. stools and different styles for working on the floor (i.e. with a clipboard, on a wobble cushion, with a lap desk) will allow my students to make choices for themselves where they can do their best work at.
