Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a wonderful school with excited, motivated students. They always inspire me with their love of learning. Our school has a majority of high socioeconomically disadvantaged children. We are a Title l school with many cultures represented (mostly Latino and Vietnamese). I truly believe in our motto of "preparing all children as global learners."
Although many of our students come from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, we strive to never let this come between us and our successes!
Many of the students live in neighborhoods that tend to be unsafe and underprivileged which causes a lack of opportunities. I hope to give these students as many resources as they may need in order to become successful both in and outside of our classroom!
My Project
The option of having different seating options in the classroom will allow students to feel more comfortable and more excited to learn in the classroom. Students currently sit either on the cold, hard linoleum floor or on their chairs, with minimal comfort during normal instruction. If they have multiple seating arrangements to choose from, not only will they be more comfortable, they will be more excited and effective when learning or when reading.
Having the opportunity to sit comfortably and flexibly in the classroom will greatly change the learning atmosphere within our classroom.
This will help all learners because it gives them the chance to choose a better and more comfortable option to help keep them focused and engaged on the task at hand. These different types of seating arrangements will allow the students to get comfortable while building a love for learning! It is important to provide the students with options that work best for them, especially in the 21st century where there is a constant hustle and bustle lifestyle.
