My students are from a small community in Northern California. They are amazing kids from working class families. Like most kids in 2nd grade, they love school! They are motivated, driven and are eager to succeed.
My students work so hard!
We are a close community with lots of family involvement. I have 25 students and as the year progresses, it is amazing to see them come together and support and motivate each other. As a teacher, I strive to meet my students where they are academically and to support and encourage the celebration of diversity present in our school.
My Project
I am asking for supplies to set up flexible seating in my classroom. Having these seating choices will be an amazing way to give the students power over their own learning!
Providing students with options will allow them to find the spot, position, and environment that best supports their learning style.
I am asking for book bins for each student and bookshelves to store them on, stools, clip boards, bean bag chairs, wobble seats, floor cushions and stability balls in hopes that if a child feels comfortable, they will also feel that they are in a safe learning environment. I believe this will contribute to a positive learning atmosphere and will encourage collaboration among my students. This is something that I have considered for some time and am ready to take the plunge! I know my students will benefit greatly from these materials!
