My Students

I work in a small, rural school in Illinois. We are a Title I school located in a low-income area, with over 50% of our students receiving free or reduced-price​ lunch. Our students are eager to learn despite their economic situations.

This year I have fourteen wonderful students who love to learn.

As with all classes, I have a variety of learning styles and abilities in my room. It has been a joy watching them make breakthroughs in their education. Our class is small in size but big in personality.

My Project

I created a flexible seating classroom this year and it has been a wonderful change. My students are more comfortable and have a choice in where they sit. They enjoy being able to move and have an opinion on what seating works best for them. My students seem more relaxed and focused during the day.

My class size will be doubling next year.

So in order to continue using the flexible seating, I need to acquire more desks to accommodate my growing class. I have found that most of my students prefer using the dry erase desks because they can write directly on the table and do not need to use paper.
