Unique! Each of the 26 fourth graders in my classroom is an individual learner. As an inclusion classroom (servicing special education and general education students) in a diverse school, my students come from a variety of backgrounds.
My 26 students are full of energy, curiosity and great potential!
80% of the students at my school qualify for free lunch and half of my students come from a language background other than English. We are working hard to close the poverty induced achievement gap and build a bright future for our students.
Flex seating, a recent trend in education, allows students to select from a variety of seating options rather than the traditional desk and chair model. My students already have the options to stand, sit on the floor, or use ball chairs. I would like to add wobble cushions and floor chairs to give my students additional options.
School should be a place where all students feel like they belong.
Flex seating options give each student the power to decide how and where they learn best. It invites them to actively participate in their education and make decisions for themselves. The seat cushions will provide movement for students who need to wiggle. Floor seats can be arranged around low tables to promote small group cooperation.
