This year is my second group of second graders here at my school. My second graders are sweet, caring, eager to work and full of questions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in a safe environment where they know they are loved and supported. Honestly, they are my reason, and they keep me going! The students in my classroom frequently crave more ways to learn with technology. Honestly, due to funding and other circumstances, I cannot keep up with their needs!
My students love learning in new ways, that are challenging and intriguing.
We love choices in my classroom. My students enjoy sitting in special places and I think they even work harder when they choose where they sit
Our school is located in East Texas, Hopkins county to be exact. We are not exactly high class, but I would not want to be anywhere else on earth! We love our school and take pride in being at our school!
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During station rotations, my students choose a seating option that works for them. Currently, my students are choosing to work in a variety of locations in our room such as: carpet squares, lap tables or just laying on the floor with a clip board.
Making sure students are comfortable in OUR classroom is an essential component in motivating them.
I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where to work. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The couch is a highly requested option that I do not currently have. Having a couch will be will a great motivator!
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students' work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
