This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a Title I school that sits in the heart of Washington, DC. I have a group of 67 students who are fun loving, eager-to-learn new things, excited about school and love to read. My classroom would be considered a melting pot of cultural heritage and social needs. Many of my students have been in the U.S. less than 4 years. They inspire me every day.
To meet their needs, we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
My Project
Our new flexible seating options and book display rack will help my students enjoy reading books. The flexible seating chairs and bean bags are not only colorful and comfy but will also provide alternative seating that will benefit my energetic students who learn in different ways.
My students will be able to move while they learn and stay focused.
They will be more excited, active, and engaged in their learning. These new chairs will help improve my students reading comprehension skills, writing, math, and science skills, as well as help them develop a love for these curriculum areas. The book racks will also allow my students to choose books
The flexible seating will be not only a great place to read books but also to share their thinking with partners and help each student contribute to classroom conversations. Flexible seating, including floor seats, and bean bag chairs, is needed in my classroom. Your generous donations will help make learning meaningful for all my students. You will help bring great resource to awesome students!
