My students are some of the most kind hearted children I have met. They care about their classmates, peers, and myself. My students are a very social bunch but love to learn. Two things they love most is reading and math! Which makes teaching those subjects even more enjoyable for me as their teacher.
My students like to get their "wiggles out" by dancing to GoNoodle songs throughout the day, playing fun review games, and they enjoy listening to music throughout the day.
They especially love flexible seating options because it allows them to sit anywhere else besides in a plastic chair at their desk.
My students come from a tough neighborhood and our school is a Title 1 school with over 90% of our students who are SES. When they leave school, more often than not they have no control over what their home life brings. That is why I feel it is important to make them feel as loved, appreciated, and comfortable as possible when they step their feet into our classroom each and every day.
My Project
Seating options in todays classrooms need a makeover! It is just not realistic anymore for students to sit in plastic chairs at desks for six hours a day. I already have some flexible seating options for my students in our classroom but we definitely could use more! My students love to move and cannot sit still for too long and that is why I love having flexible seating as an option in the classroom. However, I am only limited to my few wobble stools, a few rockers and a few cushions. I know my students would benefit from having more options available to them.
I would love it if every student in my class had the option to have a flexible seat in our classroom each day.
They are more attentive, and relaxed while learning when they are in a seat that provides them comfort. I know my students would absolutely love having bean bag chairs, Waliki chair seating balls, and donut seating exercise balls as different options to sit on while learning!
