My Students

Do you ever feel like you've hit the jackpot? Well, that's how I feel about the twenty awesome students I get to teach.

I have the privilege of teaching 4th and 5th graders with a wide variety of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.

My students are capable, but because of their disabilities, they often lack the confidence and faith in their own abilities and strengths. The students I serve come from a wide variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

My Project

Flexible seating provides many benefits to students. Students feel empowered and in control of their learning when they can make choices about their environment. Providing students with an array of seating options allows them to choose what best suits their learning style and personal needs. They may choose a seating option geared toward collaboration and movement or they may need a seating option that promotes focus and comfort. Students have many different sensory needs and providing them with options that will help stimulate their senses can help them focus and process the information they are learning. Flexible seating also helps students to be engaged in their learning, thus helping them meet their full potential! Please help me provide students with a space that offers comfort and opportunity for collaboration with a futon as one of our seating options.
