My students need fleece fabric in order to make blankets to donate to local charities so that my students will see that they can make a difference in another person's life.
Many of my students come from very poor homes and do not feel that they can make a difference in the lives of anyone else. Through this project, I want them to see that they really can help out someone else, no matter what situation they are in. Everyone can make a difference!
My students are an amazing group of young people.
I teach students from various backgrounds; some are students receiving special education services, others are immigrants from other countries that are still learning English. Unfortunately, many of my students struggle with self-esteem and knowing that they are of value and that they can benefit others. My students mean well and want to help others, but don't know of ways they can do so. One of my goals through my health class is to show them ways that they can positively influence others. Through this project, students will make fleece blankets that will be donated to a local crisis nursery and a children's receiving home for those that are entering into the foster care system or who have been temporarily removed from their families. The making of these blankets will show my students how to do something new and how to help others.
My Project
One of my goals through my health class is to show my students ways that they can positively influence others. Through this project, students will make fleece blankets that will be donated to a local crisis nursery and a children's receiving home for those that are entering into the foster care system or who have been temporarily removed from their families. The making of these blankets will show my students how to do something new and how to help others.
Donations to this project will allow me to actually do this project with my students.
Without the donations, my students will not have the opportunity to do this project at all; I cannot afford to personally purchase all of the fabric needed to complete the project. I would love for my students to see that they can both individually and collectively make a positive contribution to those in their community and to feel pride in having done so.
