In this ever changing world of technology, one of the greatest gifts children have been given is to create their ideas on the computer and display to an audience in a power point presentation. Saving on a flash drive completes this process.
My students are a combination of unique cultures hungry to learn educational technology different from video games they play at home.
They cannot wait to get in front of the class and orally present slides on their selected topic of interest. Many of them come from middle to lower class families and are always grateful for extra tools that help their success in the classroom. They tend to be kinesthetic or "hands-on" learners, so the computer room is a fantastic resource to keep them motivated in all subjects. They never complain about learning new material as long as they understand the expectations and have the tools to complete the assignment.
My Project
Flash drives are a tool that can be inserted into any computer to save the work that has been created. They are small enough to fit in a pocket but have an incredible amount of memory to store various files, including graphics. They can also be reused from year to year so each class can use them when the school year begins. Every subject in the curriculum can be extended in our computer room through word documents and graphics or charts that will be shared with other students. Students will learn to word process, navigate through pictures, and create slides in order to present a power point presentation to their peers and parents.
Technology is a huge part of our society and is used extensively in the workplace.
I want my students to be ready for that workplace as early as possible and I think the more "computer savvy" they become, the better educated and motivated they will be to be a productive member of our society.
