Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Due to severe cutbacks in educational funding, our students lack some of the necessary technology tools that would help maximize their learning experience. The technology tools that are most desperately needed in my classroom are a color laser printer for the desktop computers and a digital camera.

Oftentimes, our students are given assignments that require the use of a computer and a printer. However, many of our students do not have immediate access to computers or printers. Subsequently, the school is the only place where they are able to experience technology. Having a printer in my classroom will allow my students to print assignments such as essays, narratives, articles, and pictures.

Like the printer, a digital camera will add to my students’ lessons. A digital camera will allow my students to document their experiences during field trips, keep visual records of projects, and other educational activities. In a world whose future is technology driven, it is imperative that today’s students acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities in the technology arena. Both the printer and the digital camera will allow my students to stay current in the technological learning experience. Additionally, it will allow students to experience and understand the connection between the classroom experience and real-life.

A laser printer will be best for my class, because ink cartridges are too costly to replace. Also, the printer should be compatible with our classroom computers. Your donation towards a laser printer and a digital camera will conquer our desperate need of those tools for enhancing our students’ educational experience. We are grateful for your consideration.
