My students are in Kindergarten and grade 4. They all have Individualized Education Plans that is designed to help them keep on track to close the educational gaps they have. They are extremely amazing children. They are embracing this new way of teaching and learning and taking risks each day.
They have been extremely positive exploring this "online learning" journey with me.
I am so proud of each and every one of them for continuing to learn. They log in each day to continue their work in Google classroom. They Zoom with me daily so that we could continue our small group lessons in reading and math. I can't ask for more, my students are truly amazing!
Having materials at home to make individualized flash cards to send to my students' homes would be a game changer for them. We left school in such a hurry that there was no time to pack or grab the things we might need to begin teaching virtually. I definitely did not foresee "Distance Learning" would be the plan until the end of this school year. Distance Learning has been a real learning experience for us. We are navigating this new way of teaching and learning together to make it work for us. However, I want to bring back flashcards the old-fashioned way.
Flashing individualized cards to my students via Zoom doesn't make it stick.
Putting individual words on google slides just isn't working for my students. There is nothing like having the words on flashcards in your hand while practicing saying the words over and over to make it stick. This style of learning has worked for my students.
I would love to send all my students their individualized flash cards so they can practice whenever they want. Please help me give my students the materials they need to continue learning the old-fashioned way.
