We are Title I school located in Arizona. We have a diverse population with a lot of different needs.
The students are expected to learn their multiplication times tables by the end of third-grade to keep up with the long division, decimals, fractions, and two-digit by two or more digit multiplication of fourth grade.
But year after, too many students do not have them mastered and are struggling in the math. I am hoping that flash cards that they can take home and return will be the answer.
My Project
My students are lacking two things: Mastery of their multiplication times tables and sports equipment for when they go out to recess. The balance of body and mind is important in the school day. I am hoping to deliver equipment for their recess break, and even more importantly, give them flash cards to help master their times tables in multiplication.
Fourth grade math is very rigorous with decimals, long division, fractions, and two-digit by two or more digit multiplication.
Knowledge of their times tables is a precursor to their success in all of these math topics. Students will struggle when they don't achieve mastery.
