Getting students involved in Physical Education at the Middle School level can be challenging. When I first came to this school I quickly learned my students love for Gaga Ball. Whether they had played since starting school here in 4th grade or moved in and were introduced to it by other students it was easy to see that this is a student favorite.
Gaga is an activity that gets even the most reluctant student to join in during Physical Education.
My goal is to get a safer, more accessible pit for our students. Our current Gaga pit is bulky and made of plywood. We have done everything we can to make it safe, but it is made of wood so we do have the occasional splinter. It is also time consuming to set up and take down which limits when we can use it due to sports schedules. An inflatable pit would allow us to use this not only during Physical Education, but also during school wide events such as Field Day and assemblies.
Thank you for considering my fundraiser!
My Project
An inflatable gaga pit will allow for easier access to one of my students favorite activities. Fitness levels are decreasing for a variety of reasons and middle school is such an important time to get kids hooked. If I can find one activity that each kids loves I feel like I have done my job.
I want to make fitness fun for everyone.
We are fortunate enough to live in an area where students can get outside and be active almost year round. However many do not have access to the gear they need to be outside in the winter. This gaga pit would allow me to get the kids active during those long winter months without disrupting our basketball teams.
