Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The majority of my students come are low socio-economic backgrounds and are the result of a dream from immigrant parents. However, to me, they are balls of energy and I have the privilege of centering this potential around physical fitness and health. This is crucial because some of them have low self-esteem and body issues, but not on my watch. Together, we can help them reach their full potential.
My Project
No one likes to get on the scale; however, building healthy habits in students while they are young will ensure they focus on their health. On the surface, this project is to provide a digital scale and batteries that can measure height and weight for the Physical Fitness Gram (a statewide fitness test with two checkpoints), but it is so much more.
The scale doesn't lie and it can tell the truth about our health.
This project will enable us to rebrand how students view their bodies and self-esteem. We will ensure that students are educated on why keeping track of their health and monitoring is so important. These are habits that our students need help in creating and nurturing. With your help, our students will meet their goals for their Physical Fitness Gram and have a healthy lifestyle mindset.
