Our students are a diverse group of K through 5 learners that love to move in many different ways. In class we work on many different skills that will benefit them both academically and for a lifetime of healthy living. Like most kids "these days" many of them are not getting enough physical activity in their days, which can lead to many problems both now and in the future.
Physical activity has so many benefits for the body and brain--what better way to improve health and boost brain power while improving energy levels?!
Studies have shown that students who participate in physical activities do better in so many ways throughout their days. Our students are great kids who would greatly benefit from more movement and further skill practice to become more fluent movers throughout their lifetimes!
My Project
Our youth do not get enough movement in their days, although studies show that exercise boosts test scores and energy levels.
Skilled movers are more apt to move throughout their lifetime and lead better, healthier lives!
It's imperative that we teach our students early not only how important it is to move for a lifetime, but also how to correctly move for a lifetime of fitness and health.
Sqair mats help kids to learn proper form for many exercises and can also be used in various settings to work on many other components of fitness such as agility, speed, and power. Fitness cards are detailed and kid-friendly so that students learn to work independently and collaboratively. Students will learn many activities that they can use throughout their lives and through practice over their 6 years they should develop good form to complete the moves anywhere on their life journey!
With the mats being very portable and self-explanatory they will be easily shared with other teachers in our school where they could be used during times other than PE class (ie: recess, club time, or for an extra classroom activity break)!
