My students walk into school in the morning full of energy and life ready to start the day! They are constantly asking if we can do a "GoNoodle" or go outside for recess. They love to sing and dance while learning.
They are a great, high energy group of smart kiddos to start my first year of teaching with!
They show great promise and enthusiasm for the new year. I am beyond excited to work with the awesome staff and students at our school.
My Project
As I have stated before, I am always trying to encourage health and fitness in my classroom for my students. We are up and moving at least every hour or so, usually using a guided dance video. My students need this movement to stay focused and on task when they do need to be seated for an extended amount of time.
Our school participates in "Workout Wednesdays," where the students are encouraged to get up and exercise throughout the day.
I try to do at least one activity, if not more, each Wednesday in order to instill the importance of health in each of my students.
We are requesting fitness equipment that will give our students another way to get up and moving independently instead of with my constant direction. The TRX strap can be used on our closet door for things like squats, rows, and modified push-ups. Many gross motor skills can be practiced using the balance boards and ab roller. The dice are going to be used as a whole group work out when we want a 5 or 10 minute movement break! My students will be so excited to receive this gift of exercise equipment for our classroom! It will be implemented and immediately be a hit!
