Help me give my students new basketballs to use during the upcoming season and exercise equipment to ensure they will be in shape for their opening game.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students that will be affected by this project range from kindergartners to eighth-graders. Many of the students come from a low income/high poverty background. 100% of our students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch.
Our students come to school with a smile on their faces and a hunger to learn.
They also come with a willingness to help the community. Our students have been involved in local food drives and have hosted a food truck in our parking lot for local families to get free food. They truly care about making the community a better place because they know that change starts with them.
My Project
This project will directly affect the 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams. The brand new basketballs will be a huge improvement over the old basketballs with tears and rips that the team is using. They will give our athletes a sense of pride during practice and warm-ups that our equipment is just as good as any other teams.
The fitness equipment like medicine balls, agility quick ladders, and stopwatches will help prepare our athletes for the long season ahead of them.
The athletes will stay after school and use the various fitness equipment in a full body circuit workout. This will ensure that they are in mid-season form for the opening game.
