My students need scooters and tricycles because we currently do not have enough outside play materials. Our current scooters are breaking! The seesaw and other toys will help expand imaginations as well as create healthier lifestyles
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. They love coming to school where they are safe, loved and provided for each day.
I teach at a head start program in the suburbs of Detroit where 100 percent of our students' families receive subsidies.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
My Project
For this project we are requesting scooters and big wheels for outdoor play. Many of our students live is apartments and do not have an area to play. These items will give our students the opportunity to have something to ride and increase gross motor skills in a safe environment. We are requesting the rocker seesaw to give the children the opportunity to play cooperatively and the foam pogo jumpers to give our younger children the ability to increase their balance and coordination.
This project will give my students the advantage of learning that outdoor play is a great method of keeping their bodies growing stronger and healthier.
We will use these materials to teach them that exercising is fun and enjoyable. This will begin to create a pattern of a healthy lifestyle at an early age.
My students will not be the only ones to benefit from using these materials but each classroom will have access to use them during their outdoor time.
Nothing is more precious than seeing a child healthy and smiling!
