Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

In this day of childhood obesity, it is crucial that we get as much exercise out of our children as we can. Whether it is running or even walking, the more exercise we get, the better off we all are. With the purchase of pedometers, it will allow us to see how much they move in the school day or just limited to their physical education time. The pedometers would be used to enter their total number of steps throughout the day or gym, and make them realize just how much they move in a given time frame. It can also be used to show how many miles they walk as compared to distances on Earth. Each class has approximately 25 students and there are two classes per grade level. On one day there would be 50 students participating. It is so important to instruct the kids about lifelong sports, the benefits of walking, and the number of calories they burn compared to just sitting around.
