My Students

My students are very special because they are military children.

They face the challenge of one of their parents being deployed overseas.

Our school is unique because it is a public school located on a military base in Florida. We have children representing many countries at the school. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are our future and I want to give them a better understanding of how technology and physical activity go hand in hand.

My Project

Obesity is rising in America's youth, and I want my students to learn how to take responsibility for their own health and fitness.

Fitbits will be a great tool in my classroom for students to take responsibility for their fitness and really see how much exercise they are getting and can get in physical education.

Students will be tracking the steps they take during PE.

This project will allow my students to numerically see how much exercise they are getting in a day. It will allow students who may not be the most athletic to feel more accomplishment in PE, and allow all students to see improvements. Fitbit use will also help create personal responsibility for learning and success because students are responsible for tracking their steps.

Make a difference in the lives of 600 military children.
